AFRICANS in Edmonton, Alberta, were recently treated to an Africa-themed energetic drum beats, songs, dance and fashion display at the City's first 'African Nite'. Organized by Orobosa Eweka of J-Rex Entertainment, the cultural event witnessed a large audience of Africans from every walk of life and all the geopolitical divides in Africa.

The Nite was headlined by a combined team of elite bagpipe-playing officers of the Edmonton Police Service and Alberta Sheriffs who signalled the commencement of the Nite with its melodious rendition of popular tunes.

At the organizers' request, guests came dressed in beautiful African attires. Here are photos of some of the beautifully-clad guests who attended the event.

The event was compered by Nigeria's Eloho Usen (Queenloho) and Donubari Tonwe (Don) with Ghana's Agnes Yaa Serwah Somuah reciting a traditional poem in her Ghanian mother tongue, among other cultural presentations.

Wajjo drummers and the Sangea drummers and dance troupe entertained the audience with highly energetic drum beats and rythymic dance steps, all in the mold of African traditional performances. There was also a traditional attires display by Lula stylists.

The Nite had in attendance a host of Africans who serve with Canadian law enforcement agencies including Sgt. Karen Simmon of the Royal Canadian Military Police and the Alberta Sheriffs, Sgt. Patrick Ruzage and Cst. Achille Karuletwa, both of the Edmonton Police Service.
