African Centre marks African Day 2014

The Council for the Advancement of African-Canadians (CAAC), commonly known as 'African Centre', held its 2014 'African Day' on June 7, 2014 at Northlands Expo Centre in Edmonton.
Graced by over 500 guests of diverse heritage, the gala had the Mayor of the City of Edmonton, Don Iveson, his predecessor Steve Mandel, leader of the Alberta Liberal Party, Dr. Raj Sharman, including several members of the Alberta Legislature in attendance.
In her welcome address, the chair of the African Centre board of directors, Beatrice Ghettuba, acknowledged the 'efforts of those who made the Council for the Advancement of African-Canadians possible."
The keynote speech was given by Dr. Phil Okeke of the University of Alberta while the after-party was headlined by Adam Solomon and his group.
