Liberians Celebrate 167 Years of Independence
Liberians in Alberta, under the umbrella of the Liberia Friendship Society of Edmonton, marked their country's 167th indepedence anniversary with a dinner on July 26, 2014 at the Portugese Hall.
The dinner, hosted by Kanree Wright and Christian Weah, was preceded by a friendly football match between Calgary and Edmonton-based Liberians.
In remarks made at the dinner, John Gaye - president of the Liberia Friendship Society - praised harworking Liberians whose commitment brought about the success of the celebrations.
The dinner was attended by some board members of the African Centre, led by Ms. Beatrice Ghettuba, and host of other guests.
