Members and supporters of the Nigerian Canadian Association of Calgary (NCAC) came out on the 5th of July 2014, golf clubs blazing! The point of convergence was the Silverwing Golf Course and the reason behind the convergence was NCAC’s Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament.

Dozens of NCAC members and supporters of the association’s cause spent some hours golfing and thereafter, settled down for a nice buffet-styled dinner. Prizes, certificates and mementos were presented to winning teams, other participants, sponsors and volunteers.

The highpoint of the event was a cheque presentation of $8,000 to a representative of the Alberta Cancer Foundation (ACF). The funds were realized through the concerted effort of members of the community.

ACF, the sole beneficiary of all funds raised, is the largest philanthropic investor in cancer research in Alberta, investing more than $110 million in cancer research over the last five years.

NCAC is a non-profit cultural and educational organization that aims to provide cross-cultural, social and economic assistance to Nigerians living in the City of Calgary and the wider Calgary community. is proud of the efforts of the Nigerian community and inspired by the drive of the tournament committee who made the 2014 Charity Golf Tournament a very successful event. is delighted to share pictures from the beautiful event covers community-enhancing events and profiles members of the African diaspora with a view to raising the collective profile of Africans and Africa. Let us know about an event near you.
